Building A Log Cabin | Ep. 67 | Finally starting some building again!
In this episode, we install our bug screen on the front porch and put up a birdfeeder. Work continues on the garden as we plant strawberries, herbs, rhubarb and other vegetables. We finally build a real floor on the extended portion of the cabin using treated lumber. We do some trail maintenance, and lastly we burn some old branches that have accumulated around the cabin.
Welcome to our channel! This Log Cabin Project is a dream that we have had for several years that we finally decided to make a reality. Our goal is to build a tiny log cabin from scratch using as much material from our land as possible. We are building it entirely using hand tools (no chainsaw!). This cabin will function fully off-grid and will be only accessible by foot. Subscribe to follow our journey!
We are learning a lot as we are doing (as always), so don't hesitate if you have any questions, it will be a pleasure to share tips and tricks, if possible.

Spring is here! SO MUCH to do around the land and cabin | Garden, firewood, soil and water.
Переглядів 33 тис.Місяць тому
In this video, we return to the cabin after a long winter. Our first task is to build raised beds for the garden. We got 3 cubic yards of soil delivered and fill up all 5 of our raised beds, as well as the inside of the greenhouse. Up at the cabin, we begin collecting rainwater for our daily use, and we full up our wood shed with wood that we cut, chopped, and stored outside last fall. We also ...
Canadian Couple tries making MAPLE SYRUP for the first time - Surprisingly Easy and FUN!

Spring came very early this year! Maple syrup season in our area is typically at the end of March/beginning of April. But this year, thanks to very warm weather at the end of February, the trees started running sap in the first week of March. We had to hurry to prepare everything we needed if we didn't want to miss it! We built a rudimentary fire pit using old cinderblocks and collected dry sta...

In this quick winter update, we explain why we haven't been posting many videos. It's not because we hate winter! Quite the opposite, winter is one of our favorite times of the year. However a bunch of other factors, like seeing family and friends, getting sick, and travelling, have led to us barely spending any time here. We've also been focused on another project that's taking most of our tim...

One side has a seat that tilts up for storage, while the other side pulls out to act as a guest sleeping area. We also finish up the trim, both interior and exterior, around the front door. ... Yeah ! ... I don't know what kind of cement you are usin for your stone-floor there ... but I think you mixed it too try !!! .. should have some more water ... AND ... I think you should strain this mixture through a sieve before mix it with water ... Voila ! ... there are special cement for stick natural bricks with cautchuk ... what is more elastic ! ...

Yellow birds, wild geese, blue jays, but no sign of bear. Do you have bears where you live? Planting season I think is my favorite. That yellow gue you paint to preserve raw wood...what is that? I ask a lot of questions because I like to know and understand things. Your sharpening skills seem to be on par because you hacked through that fallen log in no time at all. Very impressed. Happy to see you building again you guys really do work as a team. It's funny you still wear jackets when I sit here sweating in 110*. Some say ""It's a dry heat."" but that doesn't make it any cooler. Awaiting for your next journey, Still luv ya!, Me southern AZ. (USA)
